Hands Free Ordinance in Austin Starts in Jan. 2015

Austin, Texas will start implementation of its “hands free” ordinance, one that stipulates that motorists cannot use cellular or mobile phones while driving, on Jan. 1, 2015, KXAN reported on November 10.

City officials are making sure that information dissemination about this law is rampant, so motorists will not be able to complain that they did not know about the ordinance before it is put into effect.

City of Austin spokesperson Jill Goodman said the local government unit stands to learn a thing or two from how other cities or even states implemented this ordinance, including the effects of the new law or how it could be refined to be more effective.

Banning cell phone use could go a long way toward preventing accidents caused by distracted drivers. The legal team at the Law Offices of Vic Feazell, P.C., in Austin is committed to protecting the legal rights and interests of those who have suffered in personal injury accidents caused by someone else.
