Attorney Vic Feazell Begins Wrongful Death Trial Against Waco Rehab Center

Attorney Feazell started the wrongful death trial against Jeffrey Place Rehabilitation Center on Monday, March 13th, 2017, in Waco’s 414th State District Court.

Along with Attorney Modesett, our Waco personal injury lawyer represents the son of the 79-year-old victim who had passed away after being admitted to the rehab center due to an infected big toe. The victim’s family claims Jeffrey Place caregivers should not have allowed the pressure sore to develop and become infected.

EXPERT WITNESS CALLED TO THE STAND

On Wednesday (March 15th), both attorneys called Dr. Loren Lipson – a geriatric specialist from California – as an expert witness. The doctor told jurors that Jeffrey Place employees had breached the health care provider’s standard of care by failing to notice and treat an infection on the victim’s toe until it became black, had a foul odor, and was four centimeters by five centimeters, thus hastening the victim’s death.

Dr. Lipton also stated that the victim was a diabetic on dialysis, with toes on his left foot already amputated, so the rehab center employees should have recognized his circulatory issues. Furthermore, he said the employees failed to notify a doctor and transfer him to a hospital immediately.

Lee Cameron, who represents Jeffrey Place Rehabilitation Center, declined to comment about the trial on Wednesday. The facility is located on 820 Jeffrey St, Waco, TX 76710.

The case is expected to conclude today.
