Talcum Powder & Ovarian Cancer Lawsuits
PERSONAL INJURY ATTORNEYS IN TEXAS
Concerns about a link between talc and ovarian cancer started surfacing in the early 1970s, when talcum powder particles were first discovered in ovarian and cervical cancer tissue. Since then, several studies have shown that there is in fact an elevated risk of ovarian cancer in women who use talcum-based products in their genital area for a long period of time.
At the Law Offices of Vic Feazell, P.C., we defend women who have been diagnosed with ovarian cancer after using products containing talc. Our Waco personal injury attorneys have the experience to hold negligent corporations liable for your injuries and can get you the compensation you deserve for medical bills, lost wages, and pain and suffering.

DANGERS OF TALCUM POWDER
Talcum powder is a white, finely-ground powder made from talc, which is a naturally occurring mineral that contains silicon, magnesium and oxygen. Although talc is organic, scientists believe it becomes highly cancerous once it is processed for use in healthcare products such as facial powders, body powders, cosmetics, and feminine washes.
In 2006, the International Agency for Research in Cancer of the World Health Organization classified powders containing talc as possibly carcinogenic to humans. Talc doesn’t break down in the body, and it can travel through a woman’s vagina, uterus, and fallopian tubes into her ovaries, causing irritation and resulting in ovarian cancer.
OVARIAN CANCER
Ovarian cancer is often difficult to detect, especially in the early stages because the ovaries are deep within the abdominal cavity. Women who have ovarian cancer often have the following signs and symptoms: bloating, pelvic or abdominal pain, trouble eating, feeling the need to urinate often, fatigue and pain during sex.
An estimated one woman in 75 will develop ovarian cancer during her lifetime. Due to ovarian cancer's non-specific symptoms and lack of early detection tests, only 20% of all cases are found early, meaning in stage I or II. If caught in stage III or higher, the survival rate can be as low as 28%. According to The American Cancer Society more than 14,240 women will die from ovarian cancer this year.
JOHNSON & JOHNSON LAWSUITS
Despite decades of evidence from a number of scientific studies, Johnson & Johnson, one of the world’s largest manufacturers and distributers of these products, has never issued a warning about the potentially life-threatening effects of using their products. If you were diagnosed with ovarian cancer after using talcum powder, you may be entitled to compensation.
