Thousands of Faulty Beats Speakers Recalled for Potential Fire Hazard

According to a report by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission on June 3, Apple Inc. is recalling an estimated 222,000 units of Beats Pill XL compact speakers due to their tendency to overheat.

The recall was prompted by the discovery that a fire may start or further injuries may result from the overheating speakers. In fact, out of the eight complaints issued to the company, one speaker already resulted in a minor burn injury and another caused property damage. The speakers were produced in China in five different colors from 2014-2015. Product safety regulators advised consumers to avoid using the speakers and return them to Apple to get a refund.
